In his State of the Union Address tonight, President Obama stated that he feel we need to enact laws to make it illegal for students to drop out of school prior to age 18 or graduating. I think this is about the only thing that I agreed with in the parts of the speech I was actually able to catch. I will certainly have to go back in the near future and watch the first several minutes of the address in order to make sure there was nothing else that I might possibly could have agreed with, but something tells me I won’t have to stress too much…

I just finished watching President Obama speak at the Tuscon Memorial service. I have to say that he delivered a marvelous speech, and I love the fact that it turned into a celebration of the lives of those who passed away rather than a somber service of mourning.

Members of all parties always seem to become temporary humans in the wake of violence, and the true test is carrying the humanitarian aspect of life forward after such an event. President Obama will be defined not based only on his speech, but also how he handles the situation well into the future, whether it be the creation of new laws or new ways to prevent existing laws from being disregarded as we saw this past Saturday morning. All people, such as myself, will offer arguments about why we stand where we stand on the issue, but ultimately all we can do is ensure that whatever changes come of this are carried out beneficially and to the maximum extent possible to protect the citizens of our nation.

The number one job of the Presidency is to protect our nation and its citizens at all costs. I certainly think we can all step up and make that job easier. It’s everyone’s responsibility, not just the government’s.

Huckabee for President – Early Start!

I want to get an early jump on voicing my opinions for the 2012 Presidential campaign. If topics like this bore you, feel free to skip this post.

We really need to get an honest GOP member back into the Oval Office. These last several months since the Democratic Party took the reigns have been absolutely horrendous. So many people were drawn to the false notion that a person can fix an entire country simply because his skin is of a different color. I don’t care what color my President is. Blue, Green, Black, Orange, Pink…I couldn’t care less. I think there are plenty of intelligent individuals of a different color who can step up and accomplish great things for our country. However, Obama just wasn’t the right choice for this time period. I like to compare it to impulse shopping. When you go into a store specifically to purchase something like toilet paper, but happen to walk by a gorgeous $150 watch along the way, sometimes you can’t help yourself in the excitement of the moment. You know you can’t afford it, but you’re drawn to it and you just have to have it, even though it might not be the best option for you. Same thing applies here – Obama wasn’t the best option for us as a nation, however, people were so caught up in the moment and the thought of having a black President, that they did a little impulse shopping of their own and couldn’t resist voting him in. They swore up and down that they were voting him in because of his leadership skills and ability to move the nation in a positive direction, but all the while they were just excited about having a black President.

This being said, if Obama is the face of the Democratic Party and little to nothing has been accomplished yet, I don’t want to see him in office for a second term. He’s shifted all of the blame to the Republicans for the economic mess. The irony in this, is that just about every spending bill passes through Congress before approval. Who controls Congress? Hmmm, it isn’t the Republicans! He pretty much slapped our military in the face by not supporting a ground-based missile defense system in Europe. He caved under the pressure of the Russian leadership to sweep the system under the carpet. We can’t have a President that won’t stand up to foreign leaders in the face of pressure. Last time I checked, we don’t belong under the command of rule of any other country, so we need to base our decisions on what we find is necessary and not what Russia finds is necessary.

I’m starting early and throwing my support behind Mike Huckabee once again. He hasn’t formally announced any plans to run in 2012 as of yet, however, he’s my guy the second he announces it. Phone calls, pamphlets, donations – whatever it takes, I’ll do it to make sure we get an honest man back in office. He represents every aspect of what the USA is and he’ll get the job done.

Obama Administration: This Can’t Be Good

We’ve all had PLENTY of opportunities by this point to see how Obama is going to run his administration. For me personally, all hope is gone for the majority of his promises stated during the campaign into office to be carried out and fulfilled. Taxes will surely go up one way or another, this is a fact.

The Democratic side of the health care debate is a total joke. The Senators and Representatives fielding question at the town hall meetings can’t even hold their own. They’ve gone into 95% of the debates and meetings unprepared for the backlash received. Arlen Spector, a Democrat out of Pennsylvania, is the biggest joke of them all. Have you been unlucky enough to catch any of his town hall style conferences? The guy can’t take the heat when it comes to the serious concerns presented by residents on the topic. How can someone like this be an effective leader? A few days ago, he fielded 30 questions on live TV at a town hall meeting, and I’d say 15 of them he never responded too; instead he said, “next question please.” No, let’s NOT go to the “next question” – let’s stay on this one and see how much information you’re lacking on the subject. Let’s see how much you HAVE NOT read in the proposed bill, and let’s all see why you shouldn’t be voted into another term in office.

Want another joke? How about Nancy Pelosi. Sure, congress is hell-bent on helping in any way, shape or form to cut the deficit, but that doesn’t mean they won’t stop trying to get four luxury business/personal travel jets custom made by Boeing! Are you kidding me? Nancy Pelosi is a stuck-up, egotistical political wannabe who let’s her girlish emotions get in the way of her career. I’d hate to be married to that bitch, because I’m sure she wears the pants in the family, and her husband would have to wear the tights.

President Obama’s administration is severely diseased. The cancer surrounding it needs to be zapped with a large dose of radiation. We need to remove the Specter and Pelosi tumors and give the heart a nice transplant with some GOP surgeons heading up the procedure.

How about John Edwards? Extra-marital affairs, babies scattered around the country that even HE doesn’t know about, constant lying to his family – awesome morals there, wouldn’t you say?

Since World War II, and possibly the beginning of the 1960′s with JFK, the Democratic party has never been one to lead, let alone successfully. It’s been almost 50 years since they’ve been in the practice of leading successfully. As you can tell, this much time away can cause a person, or in this case an entire party, to become rusty at it. The Democrats have been out of practice for too long, and may not be able to gain the ability to lead during this administration again. After all, you’re only as good as the person setting the example for you…

Obama – Go Blow

Let’s try to figure this one out together…

GM will be filing for bankruptcy protection here within the next 7-14 days most likely. Chrysler is shutting down over 700 dealerships to “re-organize” and “re-structure” its company. GM also will be shutting down an additional 1,700 dealerships, and I don’t believe this is counting the Pontiac discontinuation next fall. The government injected tens of billions of dollars into these companies to keep them alive, and the plan seems to be failing miserably.

I was NEVER a supporter of bailing out the auto industry to begin with, and you couldn’t pay me enough to support it now or in the future.

The thinking behind the bailout was simple. If the government succeeded in keeping these companies afloat, the economy as a whole wouldn’t suffer as harshly as everyone thought it would have if we had let the companies fail and go broke. However, not only are the companies doing just that, BUT these dealership closings will end up harming the economy MORE in my opinion than simply going bankrupt and writing off the debts. Here’s why…

First, we’re talking about 2,400 (or more) dealerships here. Do you have any idea how much inventory that consists of? If every one of these dealerships has only 50 vehicles on the lot, that’s 120,000 vehicles altogether, and over two BILLION dollars worth of inventory (based on a median price range of $20,000)! So, with the economy in shambles, the auto industry in shambles, and the government not having a clue as to how to fix this situation – they’ve driven an auto industry to close 2400+ dealerships and completely STOP over two BILLION dollars from ever seeing the light of day. Two Billion dollars would certainly have been a welcome sight lately since we’re trying to boost the economy from its slump…

Now, I’m sure the auto industry will NEVER pay back the loans handed out to them. It’s pretty much a fact at this point that it’ll take at least a decade for anything to return to normal, if indeed foreign automakers don’t demolish us by then.

If we had just let it run its course without bailing them out, bankruptcy would have already occurred and they would have been on the path to re-structuring the RIGHT way, with “only” a few billion dollars lost in the sea of debt, never to be seen again. But, we stuck our noses in places we don’t belong, and now we’ve added tens of billions of dollars of OUR OWN money to that sea of debt, never to be seen again…

Nice job, Obama. And, this is just a SMALL taste of what Socialism is like! Wait another few years and see what we end up with!!!

I HOPE this proves one thing…if anything else…

The word “MINORITY” doesn’t mean “WRONG”.

Us Republicans might be in the minority and have some ideas that aren’t popular, BUT again, not popular doesn’t mean “wrong.”

Another Obama Mistake

So, apparently Obama is signing a bill that is delaying the digital TV transition until later on this year – June to be exact. Is this really all that necessary? I mean, the word has been out about this now for over 3 years, and they are JUST NOW delaying it by about 4 months? Is this really going to have a MAJOR impact on our country? I highly doubt it. Plus, with all the effort in this country to get fat ass kids (and adults too) away from the TV and actually do something healthy, we’re delaying the digital swtch so the government can have time to print more converter box coupons? WHY? I just don’t get it. Typical fucking democrats…always trying to give people handouts for no good reason at all. Plus, why would we willingly hand out rebate coupons, and discount tickets for the converter box during this time of economic slowdown? I mean, isn’t the idea to have the American people spend MORE money to inject some life into this economy? Why are we handing out rebate coupons which will in turn lower the total amount profited due to the switch? This makes no sense at all.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – The majority of people who become democrats are the ones who realize they can get more by doing less. They are living examples of those who will accept anything the government has to offer for free, but don’t even try to give back, or work for what they are given. I don’t understand how they can do this without feeling the slightest bit guilty. It’s beyond me I guess.

And, one more note about the digital TV switch…I don’t feel a bit bad for people who still haven’t purchased the converter box. If they haven’t already, then it might do them some good to have a dead TV set for a while. Maybe they’ll actually be forced to move off the couch and lose a few pounds.

Farewell, George W. Bush

As unpopular as it is for me to say this probably, I hated to see Bush leave office today. I have been a strong Bush supporter for many years, and even though he’s made some choices that in the long run turned out to be non-beneficial, I think we can all learn from him. In his welcome home speech in Texas tonight, he said “I haven’t always done what is popular, but I’ve always done what I think is right.” He also said that he has no regrets as far as his decisions while in office, and he leaves with the feeling of accomplishment. I admire that, and I highly respect him for it.

Democrats are extremely good at standing at the podium, looking good for the camera and saying “the time to act is NOW!” However, none of them ever seem to actually “act now.” Whether it’s terrorism, the economy or other important issues, George Bush always took the liberty to make a quick-thinking decision when time was pressed. I realize that these quick-thinking decisions were not always popular, and not always right in the long run, but I feel it’s always better to at least make a decision and have it turn out wrong, rather than not make a decision and allow the problems to pile up for the next guy. Here’s what isn’t fair; The economy is such a large part of people’s opinions when it comes to approval ratings. George Bush made a lot of progress in other areas, however, with the economy declining, that is what he will always be remembered for, and that isn’t the way it should be. You have to take the bad with the good. Even though the economy will be forever looked back upon as a failure of his, I agree with a lot of the media when it comes to him being remembered as a decent, good-hearted guy who gave it his all.

Remember this: The major task that the President of the United States has after being sworn into office is to “protect the citizens of the USA.” It isn’t to save the economy, it isn’t to give tax breaks, it isn’t to build new roads, hospitals, etc. It’s only to protect. Being Commander-in-Chief, he did a marvelous job of this, and for that one fact I will always think of him as being a success.

Barack Obama and Susan Collins

Most everyone who knows me also knows how much of a dedicated Republican I am. I was very disappointed to see John McCain be defeated by Barack Obama. However, for the most part it was a clean race, and I’m glad John McCain was able to accept his defeat and move on immediately. He gave an outstanding speech, and even seemed to be upset at his crowd when they started to ‘boo’ Obama. He’s classy, but most of all, he knows when to quit. I am more than willing to give Barack Obama every chance to prove himself in office. I am doubtful as far as his inexperience, but he may just prove me wrong, which is what I absolutely hope for down the road. Congratulations to him, however. And also, Congratulations to Senator Susan Collins (R) for her re-election in the State of Maine. I support her and Senator Olympia Snowe (R) fully.
