Today officially kicked off the weekend for me! We kinda got lucky and had a 3-day weekend for being such great worker bees…yeah, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Actually, I suppose it’s true, lol.
Words can’t describe how energetic I’ve been lately! I love it…and I can’t wait to come home in just over a week to hit the clubs and let it all out!
I went and got a haircut today after I woke up, watched a little bit of Nascar qualifying, then lounged around for a bit. This evening, a bunch of us from work went downtown for a going-away dinner for someone in the office. We went to a place called ‘Mi Mexico’ – and I’m not sure if it was a hit with me or not. The food wasn’t bad, but I expected the restaurant to be a bit more…grown-up?
Tomorrow…or later today to be technical about it…I’ll be volunteering down at the fair again. This is my last shift there this year, and I’ll be working from 2pm until about 11pm. I love the evening/night shifts just so I can watch the drunk people fall while going up the hill to the parking lot. They usually make it about 3/4 of the way up, stumble, get their balance, then fall backwards back down the hill. It’s quite a riot actually!
Alright, I suppose that’s a wrap for now. I’ll write again this weekend - probably Sunday evening.
Post #509: Storms, Heat, and Those Who Complain About the Heat!
It seems like the weather won’t let up over the last few days! We’ve had stretches of nice weather, but at the last minute it always seems like a massive storm blows through and ruins a nice day! A few days ago we had an interesting funnel cloud over us, but it never did touch down luckily. Tonight we had some pretty wild lightning shows going on all over the sky…nothing like I’ve really ever seen before. It was neat to watch but I’d hate to be on the wrong end of it…
Speaking of weather, what’s with all of the complainers about the heat? It’s Summer, so what exactly is your problem anyway? Shit, the same people complaining about how hot it is are the same people who complain that it’s cold during the Winter. What do you expect? And it’s not like they’re bitching because it’s 110° either – they’re bitching when it’s 85°! After two decades on this planet, you’d think most people whould know how this Summer/Winter thing works by now…
You’ve survived this long, so I’m pretty sure another Summer won’t kill you!
T-minus 12 days!
Time is slowly winding down before I hop on a plane and head back East! I absolutely can’t wait. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I visit back home! It looks like the Skowhegan State Fair is going to be there when I’m home too, so I’m definitely catching the battle of the Bands if I have to crawl there with no legs.
My promotion is this Sunday! I can’t wait for that either! Things are going extremely well as they usually do around here, both at work and outside of work.
I’ve been thinking about what I want to make for the small party I’m having at my house in a few weeks. I’m debating between Pineapple Teriyaki Burgers and BBQ Chicken Pizza, but knowing me, I might make both…
Anyway, to wrap this one up…I hit the 8,000 visit mark! The blog is doing a bit better compared to the slow last few months I had on here, but the numbers are up and it’s great!
Yet another work week has come and gone, but it’s been a good one needless to say.
I finally bought my plane ticket to get back home next month, so I’ll be heading back to Maine on the 11th of August, returning on the 25th to Minot. It’s a little bit longer of a stay compared to back in February, but at least this time I can plan a few more things to see everyone I didn’t get to see back then. I think this time I’ll be doing a get-together sorta thing at my house to kinda get everyone in one place to see them, haha.
This Summer is turning out to be a pretty good one. The weather is generally good for the most part. It rains a lot at night, but the days stay warm and sunny mostly.
This weekend should be quiet hopefully. I plan on relaxing, maybe going to the gym, and all that good stuff.
I guess no news is good news? Other than the plane tickets, nothing new to report…
Post #506: New Stripes Soon!
Not much new to report around here. I just got out of work for tonight, gotta go back tomorrow for a meeting at 11am, another meeting at 1:45pm, and then my shift until we close at 10pm. The longer I’m in the Air Force, the more meetings I seem to have to go to…lol.
I’m not sure if it’ll be this weekend, or closer to the end of the month, but I’ll be purchasing my tickets to get back home in August! The fares are typically cheaper if you buy at least 7 days ahead of time, so I’m kinda scouting out the prices on a weekly basis to find out when the best time is to buy. No need to fear, I’ll be there!
I dropped all of my uniforms off to put my new stripes on yesterday. They should be ready by the middle of next week…so the lady told me anyway. With my luck she’ll lose them and I’ll have to go to work naked.
Anyone that knows me, knows I love Nascar. My favorite track is Talladega, but tonight they’re racing in Daytona Beach! This ranks up there with the excitement of the ‘Dega, for sure. I know about 4 of you who read this will say, “wow, that rocks!” The other 49,586,786 of you will say, “ugh, 2,000 more left turns!” Nascar is about more than horrific wrecks you know…it’s not all fun when someone dies in a crash, but I admit, the excitement of not knowing when the “big one” will happen is pretty exhilarating.
In other not-so-exciting news, I finally charged my camera. I’ve been meaning to do it now for, oh, about 2 months. Oops. People keep saying I need to start doing my video blogs again, but I don’t know. I do need to take a lot more pictures though – I’m slacking on that part of it.
Anyway, this is one of those “filler” posts to say I posted today. I’m really trying to keep up with this blog more…
Have a great night, and Happy early Fourth of July!
It looks like my finalized dates to come home will be August 10th thru August 24th!! I can’t wait to see everyone back home again, it’ll be a blast like always. If you wanna “reserve” a date to hang, do it fast, because it never fails that I run out of time to see everyone I wanna see. I’ll be having a party at my house August 14th around 5:30pm, so feel free to come and bring someone to join us!
That’s the update for now, see you all then!!
It’s rare, but we actually seem to be getting a four-day Weekend here! In the past, something always seemed to happen at the last second to ruin our extended breaks, but this Weekend looks like it’s a go for now. If all stays the same, I won’t be going back to work until Tuesday afternoon, which makes me a very happy camper!
The last part of my work week was good. Today was a bit on the dull side just because nothing was really going on around the base. I went down to the mall and stopped into GNC and Barnes and Noble after I got out. I picked up Glenn Beck’s new book, The Overton Window. It’s a thriller based on true national events. I know, seems boring to you probably, but Glenn Beck is the man!
Check out the book here: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Overton-Window/Glenn-Beck/e/9781439184301/?pwb=1
I took a nap this evening…and slept way too long. I’m about to turn on some TV and watch “Three’s Company.” I love that show!
Alright, have a great night and/or morning (whatever it is in your area)!
