Post #496: Two Workdays Before Monday
It’s occurred to me recently that America just needs to get rid of “Weekends.” They don’t seem to serve a purpose anymore. Weekends used to serve some very important purposes to the working class – rest, relaxation, and recuperation. The middle class for some reason is no longer entitled to these previously standard practices. Holidays are just for looks on the calendar, and Saturday and Sunday are now simply two workdays before Monday.
Maybe it’s because of the technological boom of the 21st century, maybe it’s just because people no longer have anything worthwhile to accomplish with their families – but I’m willing to bet the first choice is more accurate.
If you aren’t a senior member of your workplace, get used to not seeing your family on a regular basis. Only senior ranking employees are afforded this luxury these days.
