“Silly Biden, Jokes Are For Kids!”

Biden – “It’s Easy Being Vice President”

February 26, 2010 – Courtesy of FOXNEWS.COM

Does Vice President Joe Biden think he has it easy?

It depends on who you ask.

Biden was heard at Thursday’s health care summit telling one lawmaker, “It’s easy being vice president. You don’t have to do anything.”

The comment was made shortly before the summit resumed for the afternoon.  Biden was off-camera but the comment was caught on one of the network microphones in the room.

The lawmaker played along with Biden’s remark saying, “It’s like being the grandpa and not the parent,” to which the VP responded, “Yeah, that’s it!”

Biden spokesman Jay Carney tells Row 2, Seat 4 that the VP was “obviously joking, as any review of his schedule and responsibilities would make abundantly clear.”

What is Terrorism?

(n) Terrorism, act of terrorism, terrorist act (the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear)

There seems to be much debate over whether or not the Austin plane crash incident should be labeled an act or terrorism or not. My question is, since when does terrorism care what color someone is? According to a story posted today at Foxnews.com, The Muslim community is outraged that there is even a debate swirling about this topic. I quite frankly don’t blame them. A white person can committ an act of terrorism just as easily as a black person can, and anyone else for that matter regardless of political affiliation, race, gender or any other “label.” To limit the use of the word “terrorism” and only mention it when someone of the Muslim community committs an act of violence, or someone of another generally disliked community, is completely absurd and shows just how egotistical America can be at times. I generally don’t get too discouraged, but this really pisses me off. A white man flew a plane into a building. This is of course, TERRORISM and there should not be any debate over this, period.

Back in Minot

Hello everyone! It’s time for the last part of my “Maine” updates, lol.

Sunday morning, I woke up around 11:00am and ended up going over to Supercuts for a last-minute haircut before coming back to the base. I made it back to my house around noon, took a shower and then spent the rest of the day until about 7pm watching the Daytona 500 with my Dad! The race itself was awesome, but the track had some pavement problems which caused it to be delayed a couple of times. I still think the Daytona 500 should be a new holiday, haha.

After the race, my Dad went to bed around 8pm and my friend Mike and I went over to Tim Hortons for a last-minute get-together before I took off in the morning. We hung out there for maybe an hour or so, then I went back home to pack and get everything ready to leave.

Stephen showed up at my house just after 4am Monday morning, and I got to Bangor about 5am. I had a 4 hour layover in NYC at JFK, then another 1 hour delay sitting on the plane. Finally we got going, and I didn’t miss my connection flight in Minneapolis like I thought I was going to. I got into Minot a little bit earlier than expect, just before 4pm. A co-worker picked me up at the airport and then we stuffed our faces with KFC, lol.

Also, I met a girl who I think I’m starting to get to like! She lives in Ohio actually, but we’ve been talking now for just over a week. Being that far apart, of course I can’t expect much at this point, but we have a lot of things in common with each other, and our personalities seem to match well. :) More to come on this one, haha.

Alright, off to bed I go. I slept great last night but it wasn’t quite enough. I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week!

I Hate Leaving!

I thought this would be a good time for a new post before I leave to go back to ND on Monday morning.

This past week has been pretty decent. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all fairly quiet for the most part. Mike and I went out to the Blues Club on Thursday night and hung out for a bit. On Friday, Amanda and I met up at the Lobster Trap for an amazing lunch. It was so good to see her again. We go back a few years to when we started working at Wal-Mart together, and we’ve been great friends ever since. Jeremy and I went to dinner that evening before we went out to the Retro Party at Champs. Everyone was there like normal, and DJ Patti even partied with us and took the night off from DJ’ing. I watched the Nationwide race with my Dad earlier, then I went out to the Blues Club with Mike and Jeremy. I met up with a couple of good (but drunk) friends and almost got a little bit more than I expected…haha.

Tomorrow, I’ll be watching the Daytona 500 with my Dad, getting a haircut and getting everything ready to fly out Monday morning.

I’m really not enthused at all about having to go back to ND. The excitement of the journey has definitely worn off and it’s time for me to find a way to get back here to Maine, permanently. I’ll be applying for a program in March called “Palace Chase,” and it’s a way for active duty members to switch to the guard instead. It all depends on what the Air Force decides, obviously, but it’s worth a try. At very least, if I’m denied, I’ll just wait out my last two years and call it a day since there’s no other possible option. I definitely need and want to be closer to home, where my true and trustworthy friends are, as well as my Dad and everything that’s familiar to me. Some people take change well, and normally I do…but this change was a lot different than I expected in the long run, and not in much of a good way as far as people and/or some other things as well.

Alright, enough of my rambling. Thanks to EVERYONE for making my trip home a great one, and I look forward to seeing everyone again in the near future if at all possible. Assuming I don’t deploy this Summer, I should be back around early July…so keep on the lookout for more details later this Spring regarding that!

I’m Home!

I’m really sorry about not posting anything lately!

I flew into Bangor Thursday night at about 9pm, well ahead of schedule. I had a couple of layovers both in Minneapolis as well as in NYC at JFK. The flights were all wonderful, and I was pushed up to First Class on my first layover! Stephen and Jennifer picked me up and brought me back home, and it was really nice to see them again.

Friday night, most of us met up at Champions. The place was packed mostly with everyone from our group, lol. Tia, Darlene, Mike, Jen and Stephen, Patti, and a bunch of other people came out. Some of us met at Applebees beforehand to have dinner, and it was amazing! :)

Saturday night we went over to “Club Viper.” All I can say is…that place ROCKS now! The light show is amazing and the DJ is incredible. Some girl on the dance floor planted a kiss on me when she walked by, then danced with me for a bit and all I can say about that is…wow, haha. All in all we had a great time!

Today was of course the Super Bowl. I went to Walmart to see some people and to pick up the food for tonight. We had the best food EVER. I made taco salad, sweet and sour meatballs and mexican dip…and Mike brought over some baked chili dog tortillas. We were all in heaven for a while after we ate…it was truly amazing.

Tomorrow I have to head back to Walmart and get some Brownies a former co-worker made me. I also told some people I’d go back in and see them so it’ll be a good time! The rest of the week is looking fairly quiet until Friday and Saturday when we hit the clubs again. I gotta remember to take pics this time. I should be seeing a friend a couple times this week and do some catching up with her if all goes as planned.

Alright, I’ll wrap it up for now. I know I left out a ton of stuff so I’ll post more at some point soon.

Bye everyone :)
