Grammar Freak: Part One

Grammar Freak: Part One

Those of you who know me well, also know how much of a stickler I can be as far as grammar goes. Grammar (Grammar: Often misspelled as ‘Grammer’) has always been important to me. All throughout my school (School: Often misspelled as ‘Skool’) career, I never scored less than a 100% on any of my spelling exams – ever.

To me, proper spelling and the use of proper punctuation should be a way of life for everyone. There is no excuse for bad grammar. I don’t care if you dropped out of school in the second grade, lost four of your fingers in a lawn mowing accident and then ran over the other hand with your car – find a way to write (Write: Often misspelled as ‘Right’ - Yes, this is a word, but the wrong usage) properly!

I often find it painful trying to decipher (Decipher: Often misspelled as ‘Decifer’) online posts from people who lack the ability to construct a decent sentence. (Sentence: Often misspelled as ‘Sentance’). Is it really that difficult? I admit, I’m an instant messenger addict. I do strongly feel instant messaging has caused the downward spiral when it comes to grammar usage. MySpace, Facebook and especially Twitter can be thanked as well for this horrible trend. Why do I mention Twitter specifically? First of all, a website that doesn’t allow you to use more than 140 characters to type what you’re trying to say is obviously helping people along when it comes to finding new and creative shortened-substitutes. A sentence that used to read, “I’m going to trim the hedges, wash the dishes, wash my car and take my dog to the park today” – Now reads, “Yo dawg ima do sum shit ’round da house so hit me up lata.”

This is truly sad, indeed. It must take at least as much time tryin’ to tYpE lyK dis as it would trying to type like this. Maybe it’s just me and maybe I’m already old-fashioned – but still, it’s painful to look at!

Check back in a couple of days for Part Two!

It’s Been a While!

Sorry for the lack of a post over the last 13 days! I’ve been extremely busy and working some crazy hours, but with this nice 4-day weekend, it’s time to catch up.

I started with my new school on Monday – University of Phoenix. It’s fun! The online format is pretty cool and I’m having a good time. There’s quite a bit of work on a weekly basis, but that’s ok.

On Tuesday, the squadron had a Thanksgiving get together for a couple of hours. The food was good and I ate way too much like usual. Yesterday, on Thanksgiving, one of the new guys in our office and I went and had dinner at our boss’ house, and the food was amazing.

Tonight I’m listening to some music as usual. I’ve been watching some of the James Bond marathon on the SyFy channel over the last couple of days as well. I love James Bond! Go Roger Moore! Haha!

I might try to get a shower in later tonight but who knows…I might wait until tomorrow. And, no – I didn’t bother to go Black Friday shopping. I’m waiting for the online deals. :)

Self-Explanatory

Mike and I read a story on MSN.COM about some people who chopped up a dude and sold his body parts to a local food stand. This followed:

Kyle (6:20:20 PM): then they ate him
Mike (6:20:35 PM): “hey man u got a finger left?” no but i got a nose…want that?
Kyle (6:20:42 PM): LMFAO
Kyle (6:20:49 PM): “dickin” fingers
Mike (6:20:53 PM): lmao
Kyle (6:20:58 PM): haha
Kyle (6:21:11 PM): it’s literally “terry” yaki
Mike (6:22:05 PM): omg thats so gross
Kyle (6:22:07 PM): hahahaha
Mike (6:22:11 PM): lmao

Mike (6:22:36 PM): omfg
Mike (6:22:38 PM): thats great

A Jumble of Things…

Good morning everyone!

I do have to admit it’s been a rough last couple of weeks around here. Way too much going to be able to list it all, but hopefully things will start to sort out here shortly and get back on track. I’m talking both personally and base wise.

For starters, I’m yet again transferring my credits to a new college. The University of Phoenix is definitely a better option than what I’ve been doing through Penn Foster, and UMA still isn’t with the times enough to offer any sort of FULL online courses for any major degree program. It’s kind of sad if you think about it that some colleges don’t offer it yet – but hey, another school is more than welcome to take the money!

We’ve had quite a few command level changes here on base lately, however, the latest round of firings seems to be settled down for the most part and we have some new blood. I hope they find something that works sometime soon because it’s getting confusing around here trying to keep up with who’s who. One wouldn’t think it would be THAT hard to complete a mission that’s been here for over 50 years, but then again, I’m not God so I wouldn’t know for sure…

I just started my second round of my “mock diet” to lose these pesky 20 lbs I’ve put on since getting here, lol. It’s not noticeable, but it’s worth losing I think. I wanna get back to about 145 or so – that’s where I was most comfortable and that’s where I’ll be at once I’m done. So far I’ve taken off about 6 pounds! :)

Hmm, let’s see here…what else can I talk about…

The weather has been pretty decent around here actually for the most part. The other day we actually hit 75 degrees which is un-heard of this time of the year here. We’ve been around the 40′s and 50′s since then, which isn’t bad at all either. Keep it comin’!

I’m guessing that’s it for now. I’m still hoping and wishing for the best for my friend Courtney. She was in a pretty bad accident the other day and things are finally looking up for her. She’ll pull through, I just wish it was faster instead of slower.

Alright, now I’m done! Later all!

Face Car!

Mike (4:45:44 PM): thats not a crash he just decided to play face car pin ball
Mike (4:45:46 PM): lmao
Mike (4:45:49 PM): race
Mike (4:45:50 PM): ooops
Kyle (4:45:51 PM): face car
Kyle (4:45:53 PM): LOL
Mike (4:45:53 PM): LMAO
Kyle (4:46:02 PM): LMFAO
Kyle (4:46:03 PM): omg
Kyle (4:46:05 PM): that was great
Mike (4:46:09 PM): hahahahah
