Trend Trend Go Away, Come on Back Another Day!
Alright, before anything else, let me just get this out point blank. The Jayden, Aiden, Hayden, etc…baby naming trend needs to end. I swear every baby named since like 2006 is named something like one of those. Talk about wearing out a trend!
Ok, phew…that’s over with!
I went to the Hospital today for an appointment I had. There’s a mole on my hip that I want to have removed, and the doctor agreed that it was “abnormal” looking to him. So, I’m going back on October 7th to get it taken off. No big deal I don’t think, but he’ll have it examined and tell me if it was serious or not when the results come back.
Work was good…went home a tad early ’cause there wasn’t a damn thing going on. I have the weekend off as usual.
I hope you all have a good weekend!
Your Captain Speaks – Here ‘Til 2012…By Mistake!
Hey all! Not too much happening tonight. I got out of work about 3 hours ago and I haven’t really been doing much since. I’m watching Family Fued right now on GSN and I spent some time browsing some older posts here on the blog. I have an interesting story about this blog…
So, last night I decided to go ahead and renew my domain name (yourcaptainspeaks.com) for one more year. Well, the PLAN at least was to only renew it for one more year…but that’s not exactly how it turned out. I went to Paypal and filled in all of my information and all that good stuff, then I clicked the “submit” button to send in my payment. Well, after about 2 minutes or so, a message came up saying “please print your receipt for future reference.” I had no receipt, and another message came up saying “transaction failed.” So, I looked over all of the information, and it was all correct, so I clicked “submit” once again. The same thing happened – the “print receipt” message and then the “failed” message. It was a tad confusing to say the least. So, to make sure the money didn’t actually come out of my account, I went and looked at my checking account balance and it came up as a $1.00 payment. The domain name is $5.00 and the domain mapping is $9.97 – so it should have been $14.97 total, not $1.00. So I went back to Paypal and it showed no transaction had been processed. So, once again I filled in all of the information, clicked “submit” and this time it just froze, so I clicked it once more and it said the transaction was successful. I thought I had finally gotten it to work. Well, it worked alright…3 times. I went to WordPress to make sure it extended my domain name until October 2010 – but instead it extended it until October 2012. Yep, three of the times I clicked “submit” it actually DID go through, but came up in error by mistake. So…$45.00 and a 3-year extension later…tada! So have no fear – Your Captain Speaks is here….until October 2012!
And the answer is…
It’s amazing how many people ask me these questions:
“So, does the Air Force allow you to go off base?”
“Are you allowed to wear regular clothes?”
“So, do you have to be back at a certain time every night?”
Answer: What do you fucking think this is? Prison? It’s a job, like every other job – you work then you have free time…yep, contrary to the movies, that’s how it is.

Huckabee for President – Early Start!
I want to get an early jump on voicing my opinions for the 2012 Presidential campaign. If topics like this bore you, feel free to skip this post.
We really need to get an honest GOP member back into the Oval Office. These last several months since the Democratic Party took the reigns have been absolutely horrendous. So many people were drawn to the false notion that a person can fix an entire country simply because his skin is of a different color. I don’t care what color my President is. Blue, Green, Black, Orange, Pink…I couldn’t care less. I think there are plenty of intelligent individuals of a different color who can step up and accomplish great things for our country. However, Obama just wasn’t the right choice for this time period. I like to compare it to impulse shopping. When you go into a store specifically to purchase something like toilet paper, but happen to walk by a gorgeous $150 watch along the way, sometimes you can’t help yourself in the excitement of the moment. You know you can’t afford it, but you’re drawn to it and you just have to have it, even though it might not be the best option for you. Same thing applies here – Obama wasn’t the best option for us as a nation, however, people were so caught up in the moment and the thought of having a black President, that they did a little impulse shopping of their own and couldn’t resist voting him in. They swore up and down that they were voting him in because of his leadership skills and ability to move the nation in a positive direction, but all the while they were just excited about having a black President.
This being said, if Obama is the face of the Democratic Party and little to nothing has been accomplished yet, I don’t want to see him in office for a second term. He’s shifted all of the blame to the Republicans for the economic mess. The irony in this, is that just about every spending bill passes through Congress before approval. Who controls Congress? Hmmm, it isn’t the Republicans! He pretty much slapped our military in the face by not supporting a ground-based missile defense system in Europe. He caved under the pressure of the Russian leadership to sweep the system under the carpet. We can’t have a President that won’t stand up to foreign leaders in the face of pressure. Last time I checked, we don’t belong under the command of rule of any other country, so we need to base our decisions on what we find is necessary and not what Russia finds is necessary.
I’m starting early and throwing my support behind Mike Huckabee once again. He hasn’t formally announced any plans to run in 2012 as of yet, however, he’s my guy the second he announces it. Phone calls, pamphlets, donations – whatever it takes, I’ll do it to make sure we get an honest man back in office. He represents every aspect of what the USA is and he’ll get the job done.
We Will Rock You!
Hello! This is the first time I’ve been home since last Thursday. Sarah came up for the weekend so I haven’t been around here at all.
It rained a couple of the days that she was up here, and then it was decent the other 2 days, so it was kinda of a hit-and-miss as far as the weather goes. Overall we had fun and kept busy for the most part, even though the lack of things to do up here made it difficult at times to plan.
I’m debating on grabbing a ticket for Wednesday night’s Shinedown concert downtown. I asked a friend about it earlier and she said she might go…but we’ll see. It’s so rare anyone comes up this far into ND…so we take what we can get, haha.
I worked today from 1:15pm until about 9:30. I was supposed to work until 11pm but I have to be back in for 6am, so they let me cut out a bit early tonight. Pretty good deal if you ask me!
A Bunch of Gobolly Goop
This week is all messed up. We’re doing an exercise on base which will take about 2 days or so (Wed and Thurs). It’s not that big of a deal but more like a pain in the ass to get ready for. I think I’m all set for it though and hopefully it goes somewhat smoothly.
Sarah gets here on Thursday afternoon around 4pm or so, as long as all goes well on the flights and they’re on-time. Unfortunately, I’ll have to run her to the hotel quickly and then book it back to the base for work at 6pm. It’s gonna be a hectic day but we’ll get through it!
The concert was amazing last Friday night! Man, those bands can still rock a place like you wouldn’t believe! I was gonna do a video blog on it but I posted all of the pictures already on Facebook and Myspace. I’ll post a few here too. I’d easily pay to see that show again. I didn’t wanna leave in the first place!
