Haircut and Shopping

I crawled out of bed at about 11am or so – thought I was gonna have a hangover, but I didn’t! I was a little off balance when I stood up but it quickly went away, lol.

Today has been absolutely amazing. I snuck in a haircut first thing this afternoon. The girl who cut my hair seemed in shock when I gave her a $5 tip – but that’s just the kind of mood I’ve been in all day! After the haircut, I came back and relaxed a bit and had some lunch then took off downtown to the mall. I spent a few hours at least just wandering around and ended up spending about $150 in clothes. I bought some new jeans at JC Penney, some shirts at sears, new socks and some workout clothes at Walmart and then some odds and ends.

I really, really debated buying an iPod touch – but again, I stared at them for a good 15 minutes and walked away without one. I should just go for it, but jeesh, I don’t know why I don’t!

Dj Patti used to play a really cool mashup at the retro party and I found it online finally! Take a listen – click here.

Funrun1

Today was the mile and a half fitness run here at the base. I volunteered all morning and early this afternoon setting up for it and making sure it went off without a hitch. Everything went smoothly and as planned pretty much! It was actually pretty fun. It was so beautiful today – mid 70′s and tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same.

Everyone who uses a handheld radio on base is assigned a call sign to go by – well, the dude on the other side of the base who was monitoring the busses that were picking people up to bring to the run, was assigned the call sign “funrun1″ – which I thought was just hysterical. It made the rest of us sound like complete dorks (which I am, might I remind you) every time we had to call him over the radio… :)

Because I volunteered for the run, they let me take the rest of today off, plus I have tomorrow off as well, so it turned out to be a decent day!

I’m VERY much debating on buying an iPod Touch. I’m so bad at making expensive investment decisions! I usually talk myself into it, walk around the store for an hour with the item in my hand, then at the last second change my mind - just to go home and say “why didn’t I buy it!”

I went grocery shopping this afternoon after the run, and now I’m finally sitting down and relaxing. I’m gonna crank up the tunes tonight and debate this iPod issue!

Weirdest Night Ever – I Promise!

Tonight has gone down as the weirdest in history for sure.

First, I get a text message saying “Hey, what’s up – this is your stalker!” So, of course I replied and asked who the hell it was. The next text I got was “someone who thinks you’re really sexy!” – turned out to be a co-worker from Walmart…with a little help from a friend who’s name rhymes with ‘Dyke’.

Then, I get a text saying “Tonight I’ll be dreaming about getting breast implants - Goodnight Kyle, sweet dreams!” – this person will remain nameless.

Then, I get a phone call from a girl saying “Tonight was ladies night out, you should take a picture for me with your shirt off so I can show my friends how sexy you are!” – this person will also remain nameless, but goes on to say “Goodnight Kyle, stay sexy, don’t disappoint me!”

And, to top it all off, I get another message saying “I’m cold, come keep me warm” from one of the cutest friends I have - of all my luck…this all happens while I’m 2,000 miles away.

And, this is all AFTER midnight – it’s only 2 hours into the day technically!

Obama – Go Blow

Let’s try to figure this one out together…

GM will be filing for bankruptcy protection here within the next 7-14 days most likely. Chrysler is shutting down over 700 dealerships to “re-organize” and “re-structure” its company. GM also will be shutting down an additional 1,700 dealerships, and I don’t believe this is counting the Pontiac discontinuation next fall. The government injected tens of billions of dollars into these companies to keep them alive, and the plan seems to be failing miserably.

I was NEVER a supporter of bailing out the auto industry to begin with, and you couldn’t pay me enough to support it now or in the future.

The thinking behind the bailout was simple. If the government succeeded in keeping these companies afloat, the economy as a whole wouldn’t suffer as harshly as everyone thought it would have if we had let the companies fail and go broke. However, not only are the companies doing just that, BUT these dealership closings will end up harming the economy MORE in my opinion than simply going bankrupt and writing off the debts. Here’s why…

First, we’re talking about 2,400 (or more) dealerships here. Do you have any idea how much inventory that consists of? If every one of these dealerships has only 50 vehicles on the lot, that’s 120,000 vehicles altogether, and over two BILLION dollars worth of inventory (based on a median price range of $20,000)! So, with the economy in shambles, the auto industry in shambles, and the government not having a clue as to how to fix this situation – they’ve driven an auto industry to close 2400+ dealerships and completely STOP over two BILLION dollars from ever seeing the light of day. Two Billion dollars would certainly have been a welcome sight lately since we’re trying to boost the economy from its slump…

Now, I’m sure the auto industry will NEVER pay back the loans handed out to them. It’s pretty much a fact at this point that it’ll take at least a decade for anything to return to normal, if indeed foreign automakers don’t demolish us by then.

If we had just let it run its course without bailing them out, bankruptcy would have already occurred and they would have been on the path to re-structuring the RIGHT way, with “only” a few billion dollars lost in the sea of debt, never to be seen again. But, we stuck our noses in places we don’t belong, and now we’ve added tens of billions of dollars of OUR OWN money to that sea of debt, never to be seen again…

Nice job, Obama. And, this is just a SMALL taste of what Socialism is like! Wait another few years and see what we end up with!!!

I HOPE this proves one thing…if anything else…

The word “MINORITY” doesn’t mean “WRONG”.

Us Republicans might be in the minority and have some ideas that aren’t popular, BUT again, not popular doesn’t mean “wrong.”

Thomas

My cat Thomas was put down earlier today. He was just shy of 17 years old, so it was a great life as far as we’re concerned!

This one’s for Sarah!

So, today I watched the Nascar race that was postponed from yesterday. It started around 11am and I woke up luckily only three laps into it. Talk about boring! It rained so much they had to stop the race a few times to clear the water from the track, and finally around 5:30pm they decided to halt it for good and call it a day.

Sarah!

Sarah!

Tonight I was just relaxing before I have to head back to work tomorrow…when out of the blue…Sarah called me! It was shocking because we haven’t talked since November really…and we’ve known each other for about 5 years now. We used to keep in touch all the time, but over the last year or so, it’s been horrible! It was really a nice surprise though. We’ve never met in person, but for some reason it feels like we have…I don’t know, it’s weird like that, LOL! We talked about everything…the Air Force, my video blogs, her cakes (which look extremely amazing I might add), going to Vegas and getting married, going to Italy together…LOL…and some other stuff. We had a lot of catching up to do and it was really nice to be able to do that. One thing we do have in common – is that we both share the joys of being a Walmart Department Manager. I used to manage Candy and Tobacco, and the Bakery for her. I definitely am jealous of her cooking skills. I used to think I was amazing, but after hearing about and seeing some of the stuff she’s made…wow. :) We had a nice long talk that lasted exactly 117 minutes and 34 seconds. The only reason we stopped talking is because I caved into my hunger craving and had to go get some food. We’re definitely staying in touch from this point forward, even if I have to hand-deliver letters to her!

So, that was pretty much my day. I’m really fascinated lately with the song “Angie” by the Rolling Stones. I think we might cover it…I’ve already mentioned it to Mike and I’ve started practicing some of the vocals for it. Not a hard one to sing really, but I think we might do it acoustically.

That’s it! Have a wonderful day!

Slow News Day?

Pest Control Company Charged With Animal Cruelty After

Squirrel Found ‘Cooked to Death’

From Fox News:

HAZLET, N.J. —  The owner of a New Jersey pest control company has been charged with animal cruelty after a squirrel was found dead in a rooftop trap.

The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals charged Kathleen Buck, owner of Critter Ridder, on Friday.

Chief Buddy Amato says a professional complex hired Critter Ridder to help get rid of the squirrel. He says a trap was set Wednesday for the animal, and no one returned to check on it.

Amato says the squirrel was found “cooked to death on the hot roof” Thursday afternoon.

Buck faces four counts of animal cruelty, including one that cites her for not providing the squirrel with adequate food, water and shelter.

She calls the situation a “misunderstanding,” and says customers usually call when an animal is caught.

Party

Last night I decided to head downtown to a co-worker’s party. It was fucked up, for sure. I can’t wait to get back to Maine and hit up some of the nightclubs. Minot just doesn’t compare…not even close. The girls here are messed up, the clubs suck and overall it’s just not very exciting. It’s weird going from “center of attention” every weekend to this shit. Back home I had the option of hanging out with co-workers during my off time…here, it’s forced. Not so fun.

4-Day Weekend!

Yes! Although, it almost didn’t happen as planned. But, no need to fear, my 4-day weekend is here, damnit!

We were supposed to have a party tonight but that’s off…which kinda bites because I’m tied up the rest of the weekend. Oh well, I’m still gonna have a blast! Saturday night is the return of Harper’s Island – ANDDDD the Nascar All-Star race! I can’t wait! Oh, and can we say, alcohol?!

June 20th is the Music Fest in New Town, ND at 4-Bears Casino. Great White, Slaughter, and Skid Row from 7pm until about 2am. I’m trying to make it! And, I signed up to volunteer at the North Dakota State Fair here in Minot on Saturday, August 1st at the gate. An afternoon in hot weather? That can only mean one thing….GIRLS!
