An actual story from Fox News…
John the Toilet Shot, Laid to Rest
CENTERVILLE, Utah — John, a porcelain commode gunned down in an accidental shooting at a fast food restaurant’s bathroom, has died. His age was not immediately known.
The toilet was shattered by a bullet Jan. 12 when a man’s gun fell from its holster as he was pulling up his pants, police said. Police do not plan to file criminal charges in connection with the incident.
Christian Martinez, manager of the Carl’s Jr. where John was gunned down, held a memorial service Friday at the restaurant. He gave away bottles of John’s favorite toilet cleaner, Kaboom Bowl Blaster, to the eatery’s first 50 patrons.
A Bountiful flower shop provided a large floral arrangement.
“In all my years, I can say without a doubt that I have never delivered for a toilet,” said deliveryman Doug Graham, “but I thought it was the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. I got a kick out of it.”
Remnants of John hit and cut the gun owner’s arm, but he was not seriously injured.
Police blamed John’s death on the gun and style of holster the man was using.
“He was survived by the men’s urinal and wash sink,” said Martinez. “He left us way too soon.”
Bowling
I made a BIG mistake last night. I bought some Steel Reserve earlier this week, and I tested out the theory that everyone passes out by the 5th one. Well, the legend holds true after all! I got about halfway through #5 and I was out like a light. This morning I had my meeting with the toilet and we became better friends.
Our flight met up at the bowling alley at 3pm this afternoon for mandatory bowling. It was a good trade off instead of having to work, that’s for sure. I scored a 139 the first game and then a 131 the second game. Not too bad for still being in the recovery stage from last night, lol. After that, I came back and built a shelf system for some space in my room. Tonight I’ll eat some soup and chill out with some music.
Plans
Next month I’ll be heading to a place called ‘Spirit Lake Casino and Resort’ on the 21st to see an Eddie Money show there. I’m pretty excited about it – and the resort from what I hear is amazing. I’d like to do a summer drive there because it’s on Devil’s Lake which is the largest body of water in ND as far as I know. Check out the resort: http://spiritlakecasino.com/.
This spring/summer I hope to have a few visitors out here from Maine. I know Courtney will be coming out, but a couple other people are talking about it also. In July, we are having an air show at the base…so that’ll be cool if someone happens to be here during it.
As far as leave goes, I doubt I’ll be home now much before October. I keep having to push it back just due to a few reasons. One, I took a lot of leave after my mother passed away, and two, I really need to focus on getting my training done so I can become fully qualified in my career field.
So, there you have it. Hey, it made a good filler entry…right?
He’s Alive!
I apologize for the lack of posts lately, but I really haven’t had anything happen worth writing about…at least not in-depth. I had a good quiet weekend. Today I went to the post office and got a shipping box, then went to the clothing sales store on base and got some gifts to send back to Jennifer and Stephen. After I got it all packed and ready to go, I went back to the post office and mailed it out. I have a bad habit of holding on to mail too long if I procrastinate sending it. So, it was better to get it done and out of the way today.
I went downtown and bought a 12-pack of Steel Reserve…this will be an interesting weekend, indeed. Legend has it that no one can last past 4 of them before passing out…and I’m gonna test this theory Friday night…
Hotel Angeleno
Today is a fairly boring day. I got up around 11:30 this morning and have just watched TV since then. I think it’ll be a quiet weekend for the most part.
Last night I had planned to sit down and spend an hour or so coming up with a rough draft for a new lyric, but the second I whipped out my pen and notebook, everyone wanted to talk to me…oh well. That’s life, lol.
I’ve also been researching some hotels in the Los Angeles area for my vacation there, which I am planning for early to mid 2010. I’ve decided on a place called ‘Hotel Angeleno’, and the website is http://www.hotelangeleno.com/.
The Latest
Things are going fairly well this week. I am a bit bummed about the inauguration earlier this week, but other than that, everything is good. I got a bit more training done today and I’m getting closer to being done with it…but I’m still a couple months away.
Tomorrow I’m working from 7:30 until 2:30pm, but then I’m gonna go back in at 6:30 for a bit to train some more. Then I’ve got the weekend off!
Can we say…beer?
