I’m Home!
I was delayed by about an hour leaving Minot. Then, I was delayed leaving Minneapolis because the plane didn’t arrive on time, so that was another hour and a half setback. In Detroit, we WERE actually scheduled to leave on time, but, the ticket agent failed to show up on time – so, the plane and the crew were waiting for us to board, but we had no one to board us. So, the plane sat for too long and developed a frost, so guess what? Delayed, again. We had to taxi to the de-frosting station where they spent 15 minutes spraying the plane down, then we finally got out of there an hour behind schedule.
However, I’m now back home – and ready to tear up any dance floor thrown at me this weekend. Champs on Friday night, Blues Club on Saturday night – be there.
Back to Maine – Post #300!
Well, this is probably my last post before I head back to Maine tomorrow morning, but I’ll be sure to update once I get back home late tomorrow night/early Tuesday morning.
Today’s been good. I ran to the office real quick earlier to print of my leave form to take with me on my trip and to check my e-mail one last time, but since then I’ve just lazed around the dorm and relaxed. Tonight I’m packing so I shouldn’t have too much to do in the morning.
Everyone have a good night!
LG Voyager
I just got off the phone with Verizon. I ordered the LG Voyager Titanium which I’ve been meaning to do now for about a month or so. I’m excited…I can’t wait to get it!
In other news, I did some laundry today so I could get it all packed up and ready to go to Maine. Last night I cleaned up the room a bit in case of an inspection while I’m gone. Today it’s been pretty nice as far as not having any snow, although the high temperature so far as been -11. I haven’t been outside at all but it looks a bit windy out. I was supposed to go downtown and party with some people but one decided not to go I guess and it would have been a bit awkward with just me. But it’s fine, I still have a few things to do to get ready to leave.
Soup really does cure all!
I was reading an article online about a man who hung his wife outside a 3rd floor window…and as if the story wasn’t strange enough already, read the last sentence…
From MSN.COM:
A lovers’ quarrel almost ended in tragedy in the Chinese city of Kunming Friday, caught on camera by a passing photographer.
An unidentified man held a woman said to be his girlfriend out of a third floor window for more than two hours as police tried to talk him down.
He finally agreed to leave the building, but took the woman with him as a hostage, holding a knife to her throat as crowds gathered in the street around the building in the Yunnan provincial capital. In the end, specialist hostage negotiators persuaded the man to give himself up.
Bizarrely, there was a similar, although apparently unrelated, hostage-taking incident in Kunming on December 19, 2005 .
Indeed, Kunming seems to have quite a reputation for hostage-taking, including an incident earlier this month in which a knife-wielding man injured three women before taking a nurse hostage in the French-owned Carrefour supermarket.
That stand-off lasted more than four hours before police tempted the man out with a bowl of soup — and a sniper killed him with a single shot to the temple.
And my leave starts…NOW!
I got up around 7:45 this morning to get ready for my board appearance. Like I said in the post before this one, I stumbled on a couple of questions so I’m not too sure how well I did, considering the guy I went up against has won this award 3 times already. After that, I came back to the dorm and slept for a bit longer, then I had to run over and drop off some paperwork to my deployment manager. I got a call while I was doing that saying that the airfield was closing early and I didn’t have to go into work at all today. That was quite the pleasant surprise I’d have to say! So, now I have a long weekend, then I leave for Maine on Monday. This is an extra-extra long break for me, lol. I ran back to the office about an hour ago though to check my e-mail for the last time before I head out and to print off my trip itinerary.
The party mix is on tonight so I’ll listen to that probably. I still have to write my last two finished lyrics into the notebook, but I have no motivation for that whatsoever. I really don’t know if I’ll be posting anymore on here as I write them. Now that some of them might be used in my band, I might hold on to them until they get a copyright. We’ll see…I might still post some I don’t plan to release with music.
Have a good night!
Award Update
This morning I went in front of the board for the Exaclibur award. I’m not sure I did so well – I stumbled on a couple of questions. I think I’ll find out later on this afternoon…
Excalibur
Earlier this week, I was put up for an award called the “Excalibur” award. It’s a monthly award given to certain airmen from our squadron. Tomorrow morning, I have to go in front of a board to answer some questions about the Air Force and to show off some marching skills, and then after each person nominated for the award is finished, the board meets and they select the overall winner. I’m rarely nervous about things like this, but this makes me a bit nervous. I’ve spent a couple days now studying for the questions so I’ll be as prepared as I can be I suppose. I got out of work a little bit early tonight to rest up for the board in the morning, which is supposed to be at 9am.
There’s a rumor that we’re supposed to be closing early tomorrow, but it’s not confirmed yet. If we do, it’ll give me more of a chance to pack and get ready to leave for Maine on Monday.
Speaking of Monday, there’s been a change of plans as far as who’ll be picking me up at the Bangor Airport. Jen and Stephen will be picking me up instead of Jeff, since some things came up with his car. I felt bad having to ask Jen and Steve, but they offered a few weeks ago, so it helps big time.
That’s about it. Goodnight!
Filler Post
We ended up having to stay late at work tonight until just after midnight. But we kept ourselves entertained…
I really have nothing to talk about. This is just one of those “filler” entried I guess you could say.
Very, Very Interesting…
Short Work Day
When I got to work today, I found out I only had to work until a little after 6pm, so it’s a little bit longer of a night for me tonight. I’m not complaining! I was supposed to head downtown and have dinner with some friends at Applebee’s, but the plans became way too confusing and I finally just gave up and said screw it.
Remember a while I ago how I kept posting about how I missed a chance at the Blues Club when I was back home last? Well, it seems to be somewhat sorted out finally…!
I called Steve and Jen today to see what the situation was for New Years Eve tickets, and they’re gonna reserve one for me, thank god. I had forgotten all about the tickets until Tracie reminded me (unknowingly) earlier when we were chatting.
I was supposed to write a lot more but I’ve forgotten most of what I had planned to write about.
