Houston, we have a problem…

We had to be to work this morning at 5am, and the morning was quite dull. However, it quickly turned around at about 11am. A flight that was due to come back to our base had engine failure while it was cruising over the Gulf of Mexico. They filed a new route of flight with us and said they were diverting to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana instead. But, after they started their approach into Barksdale, they decided to call off the landing and continue to here to Minot. So, they filed a new flight plan and they were due to land here around 1:30pm. They declared an in-flight emergency when they were about 100 miles from our airfield, and lucky me, I had to make the emergency phone call to the other agencies to get into position on the airfield for the landing. I’m considered a first responder to emergencies also so I got to watch it land and I also watched the fire department do their thing, until they cancelled the emergency about 20 minutes after landing. It turns out it was the #4 engine that failed, so it was still possible to have a safe flight. The B-52′s have 8 engines with 4 on each side.

So, that was the highlight of my day, and it got the adrenaline going! It was my first time experiencing a “real life” emergency situation while on duty. Before this, it was just some scenarios in tech school to help train us for this type of thing.

After work, I went to the BX and bought some CD’s to burn some music and a new CD binder…then I went to the Commissary and bought some rotisserie chicken to have for dinner.

Tonight I’ll be burning some music and relaxing for the most part. It’s back to work in the morning at 6am!

And the winner is…?

Okay, so a couple weeks ago I got word that one of my close friends growing up as a child, Kimberly, was crowned Miss Maine International 2008. I knew her really well and I knew her dad too. Her dad is the Dare program leader for the county I grew up in. So, I found her on Myspace not too long back, and sure enough, there she was in her pageant dress. We just got back in touch with each other after all these years…(about 12 years now)…and I really don’t know what to say! Take a look!

Bowling Results

I just got home from bowling in my first league tournament match. I bowled three games. I averaged a 121 of the three, so it sets my handicap at 79. I did pretty well I’d say. I met some cool new people. Jessica and I chatted most of the time. She came around the same time I did from tech school in Mississippi, and we were in the newcomer’s orientation back in August. MSgt Godemann was helpful in getting me all set up for the games since it was my first time. I’ll probably be able to bowl again next week, but then I’ll take a couple of weeks off since I have to work two weeks straight of nights.

Ghost Hunters in 15 minutes…you know what that means!

It’s Tourney Time!

Yes, that’s right! I’m leaving in about 15 minutes to bowl in my first league tournament game. I’m a bit nervous about it, but it’s all in fun. I just wonder how many people actually show up to watch these things…

Work was good. My commander gave me a new job responsibility to go along with my normal training duties. I’m now the “File Planning Manager.” Simply put, it’s my responsibility to keep accurate and organized files for our shop. Simple enough I’d say…no?

But I’m gonna get all dressed and pumped up for bowling…wish me luck!

Today’s Agenda

So, now that I’ve made it through the night, I thought I’d just quickly write up a post before I head into work here in about an hour.

Like I mentioned in the post earlier, I should be getting out a little after 2pm or so. Today is my first bowling league competition at the bowling center. I hope all goes well…although no one should expect much with my final score…lol.

Later on tonight, also like I said earlier, is a new episode of GH. In order to miss it, I’ll have to tie cement blocks to my feet and jump from a bridge…it’s not gonna happen. I feel bad if someone tries to call during it…because I won’t answer, lol.

Ok…I have to go get ready for work now.

Whoops…!

Well, I didn’t exactly plan it this way….but I definitely got enough sleep in. I got out of work at 11:45am, laid down around 12:30 or so….and woke up at 11:45pm! I had set my alarm for 4pm, lol. But, when I woke up, my phone was on the floor, my watch was on the floor, and my sheets were all screwed up, so I must have had a battle with my phone alarm when it went off and  don’t remember it.

I just went out to the mini mall here on base. I got a couple sandwiches, chips and some donuts. I figured I’d pig out since I’m not going back to sleep tonight. Yes, I’ll be up again all night. I work at 6am and should be out by 2:30 if all goes well.

Tomorrow night….GHOST HUNTERS BABY! I haven’t been able to see a show since the season premier 3 weeks ago. And, I think the Minot HS homecoming game is this Friday evening, so I’ll head down to that.

Anyway…goodnight!

How much is that model in the window…?

Leona Lewis – Better in Time

This is such an amazing vocal song

I’m slowly seeing a trend setting in here. After I got out of work earlier I took a nap for about three hours to take the edge off. It worked, and now I can’t make myself tired enough to go to bed at all tonight. I have to be to work here in a few hours (3:45am) and I’m gonna be pulling another all-nighter it looks like.

The last couple of hours I’ve been chatting with a girl I met online recently. I don’t know what to say…except that…Jeff and I modeling wasn’t such a bad idea after all a couple years ago…And, I picked the right time to begin going to church…

Well, I have to go find something to do to kill the time off before work this morning. The trade-off apparently is that we get to leave around noon or so. I’ll probably take a nap after like I did today, then start the cycle all over again. I guess I’ll get going now.

Just an ending thought…I like these occasional “time warps” I get myself into. Don’t ask, just have a great day…

“Hooekd on phoniks worekd fer mee…”

Hey guys!

For having pulled an all-nighter last night, I’m feeling pretty good…but I’m about to take a nap to stay on the safe side. I felt pretty accomplished today. I’m finding that as the days go on, I’m finally able to do a lot of the every-day tasks without any assistance, or very little.

I’d have to say the humorous event of the day came when I was on the phone with a Captain from another base. He butchered my last name…several times, I may add.

Nap time…!

Good Morning, Sunshine!

Yeah…it’s 4:50am. It wasn’t worth going to bed for like 2 or 3 hours, so I decided to pull an all-nighter. I have to work in about an hour, but I get out at 2:30, so a nap will do me just fine then. I’m really not even tired at this point. Trust me, there’s worse things in life then going a few hours without sleep.

I’m really addicted to Pogo Bowling lately…I find myself spending a wee bit too much time on there I think…

Anyway, that’s the quick update for tonight/this morning, lol. For those of you still sleeping, more power to you…

50/50

Hey everyone!

I went to church today as I have been doing for the past few Sundays. The service today was a lot different from the others. The message today was about sexuality and how people often abuse it. I think there were many things out of today’s service that most people can agree with and relate with in one fashion or another.

  • “Men use love to get sex – Women use sex to find love.” I thought this was a pretty powerful statement, and it’s so true in so many ways.
  • “Human beings are created and born from the womb, but only men spend their entire lives trying to get back in.”

The overall sermon was dedicated to showing how people can abuse sexuality, as I mentioned previously. The idea that you’re supposed to become ‘one’ with someone, and just ‘one’ person only, can frighten many people. The problem starts when you become ‘one’ with a person before committing to a lifelong marriage. It seems as though this is why most marriages fail in the end, after just a matter of months or a few years. Too many people are trying to become ‘one’ with more than ‘one’ person, thus making it impossible. How can you become ‘one’ with more than ‘one’ person? Well, you can’t. In 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Paul tries to explain just why that is. The message below it all, as we went over it earlier, was that if you are already ‘one’ with a partner, having any sexual intercourse with another would only reduce you as a ‘whole’ entity, if it were possible. Simply put, no person (specifically men for this purpose) can be only 50%, 25%, 10% etc…of themselves. It’s impossible, and even though it’s impossible, the very idea behind it is enough to make a statement against sexual immorality. Betraying the ‘idea’ in turn betrays God himself.

It was a pretty wild and open discussion about this today, as we were forced to be honest with ourselves and the rest of the church as far as what we have done in the past (or are currently) doing to betray God in this way as individuals. It was an eye opening experience. Today, I finally convinced myself that I waited too long to start the journey. I have missed out on a lot over the last several years, and I have a lot of ground to make up.

Today’s service ended with the Baptizing of a girl named Emily, a member of the church. It was interesting to watch. I have to say, I’m way too judgemental when it comes to initially making up my mind about whether or not something is right for me or not. Just 3 weeks ago, I was saying Baptism may not be right for me…but after today, it might possibly be in my future…but it’s still a bit too early to tell.

With that said, I’m watching the Emmy’s tonight on TV. Tomorrow morning bright and early at 6am it’s back to work. Have a great night!
