The New and Improved YOUR CAPTAIN SPEAKS Weblog!
Good Afternoon! If you’re here reading this, then you already know my blog has moved to WordPress! I wanted to take a moment to fill you all in about the new changes and features of my new blog.
First, if you look in the header, to the right of the title, you will find my customized pages. These will probably change often, so check on them periodically. Yes, I even added the infamous “Everything Kyle Hates” list. I also added a page so I can list the titles of all of my completed lyrics. The “released” section contains the titles of the songs in which I have released the lyrics to the public. The “unreleased” section contains the titles of the songs in which the lyrics themselves have not been released to the public for one reason or another. Makes sense, huh?
Next, you’ll notice I have 2 columns on the right hand side of the page. I haven’t gotten everything exactly where I want them yet, so those will probably change around a few more times over the next several days until I’m happy with the design. I will also be adding several more features on that side of the page as time goes by.
In an unusual move, I am no longer requiring comments to be posted by members only. I’m usually paranoid about allowing comments because 1) I hate spam, and 2) I hate rude and obnoxious comments. However, the comments still are put on hold until I approve them to be posted on my blog – you just don’t NEED to be a member any longer to post one.
I imported all of my posts from Blogger, so if you come across any blogger specific entries in my previous posts, ignore them. An example would be an entry about something new I added to blogger, etc…
If you have any suggestions for a featureĀ on my blog, please let me know. If you don’t like a feature, let me know how I can change it. As I keep adding to my new blog, I will post updates as needed to help you navigate my site better.
Now for the actual post…
I was going to attend church today, however I was shocked to find that it was…cancelled? Yep…apparently they decided not to hold a service at 2pm like was originally advertised. That’s ok, I’ll just watch today’s Fellowship Church service online like I normally do. I think tonight I’m going to watch the Nascar race. It’s really hot and sticky today, which is a bit uncomfortable, so I don’t really want to go anywhere and do anything. I found out that they have started the evacuation of Keesler Air Force Base due to the Hurricane in the Gulf. As you know, Keesler AFB is where my Tech Training was during the summer. It makes me glad I’m not there anymore.
I think I’ll end it here for now. Take care and have a wonderful evening!
It’s Dark in Here!
I went bowling tonight for a couple hours, and while I was there, the power went out all over base. I stayed at the bowling center for a couple minutes hoping it would come on, but no such luck. As a matter of fact, it came on over 2 hours later. Everyone left the dorms and gathered in the parking lot, so I took the opportunity to grab a cigar and enjoy the dark night. Every star was visible, and I even saw a meteor. I met a guy outside who’s only been here a week. We decided to walk around and try to find someone to ask about what happened with the power. We were about to go ask a security forces dude, but then he busted someone, so that was out of the picture. It finally came back on a few minutes ago. I’m in the process of transferring all of my lyrics into my new notebooks. It’s a time consuming process.
I did, however, bowl a 145, my best ever tonight, lol. That’s it! Goodnight!
TGIF
Well, Friday might almost be over, but I still have 3 days left to go before I have to be back at work.
Today I went downtown to the mall for a few hours. I ended spending a couple hours of it in Barnes and Noble. I love that store…it’s by far my favorite here in Minot. And, it’s a brand new store. I bought a couple of really cool personal writing notebooks to use for my song lyrics. I think I’m going to go back to writing all of them manually instead of using a computer, that way I have a record of everything that I have done in the future. Of course, I’m still going to post copies of my final drafts online like normal, I’m just not using my computer as the only database of them, that’s all.
I ate at the food court, then took off and went to Kmart. The Kmart is huge, but is set up the same way as the Waterville one, where I came from. On the way back, I stopped by Pizza Hut and got a pizza for my supper. When I got to the front gate to the base, the guard looked at my truck for a sec, then was like, “have you taken care of those plates yet?” So I asked him what he meant and he said, “well, your registration expires in 2 days.” I had forgotten all about it, so as soon as I got back to my dorm, I got online and renewed my registration. Since I don’t have a printer yet, I had to go to the office to print out my documents to keep with me in my truck. While I was there at the shop, I decided to jump on a computer and update all of my life insurance paperwork since that was due also. So, I spent about an hour there at work, all by myself, lol. After I left the shop I came back to my dorm room and watched “P2″…a horror movie that came out last year that not too many people have heard about. It was surprisingly good. Beer, pizza and a movie? Can’t complain with that! So far Netflix is working out pretty good for me.
Now I’m just listening to some music. Mix 99.9 played a really cool dance remix of “Jaded” about an hour ago. I can’t seem to find it online to download, but that’s ok. Holy shit, I should stop now…I’ve written a book I think! I’m gonna go break out one of my new notebooks and brainstorm I think. Goodnight!
4-Day Weekend!
Happy Thursday! I’m off for the next 4 days! Today I graduated from my FTAC class and was awarded my certificate. After that, I had to go to my dentist appointment which took all of about 5 minutes. I stopped by my shop for a safety briefing, then got some supper after.
If you noticed at the top of the page, in the header, I’ve added a “New Lyric Release Date” and the title of my latest works in progress. Right now I have a handful of people who actually wait for them to be released, so this might help as far as knowing when to check back in for new ones. Of course, the dates listed are only a guess based on how new ones are coming along and how much work there is left on them. They could be posted earlier or later, depending on what I decide to do. Any title with “TBA” is “To Be Announced”…meaning no title has been created yet.
Enjoy!
Toothpaste Does That?
I bought the new “Aquafresh Extreme Clean” toothpaste to try. It said “intense foaming action” on the label, so I thought it was worth a try. Holy shit! After you brush your teeth for about 45 seconds, you look like a friggin’ dog with rabies. I mean, shit….foaming at the mouth like that would have gotten me killed back during the Salem Witch Trial days…..
Yeah, it’s kinda like that
I’ve been really busy over the last week or so. I finished up my first week of FTAC (First Term Airmen Center). It’s a 2 week series of briefings for new airmen here at Minot. I’ve met quite a few new people there, and so far they all seem pretty cool. I got to go to the Zoo finally…and I’ve eaten at about 50 different restaurants.
I posted my first set of song lyrics online to be critiqued after I posted them on my blog a few days ago and they got some good reviews. I had to go back and make a minor change but other than that it stayed pretty much the same. I still have 2 more to post, but I’m still a bit hesitant on releasing them right now for some reason. After reading them over again I’m not really sure how happy I am with them at this point.
It’s late so I’ll post again sometime soon. I have to head out in a bit anyway to go downtown…and yes it’s 1:00am. Have a great night everyone!
Have another one, Sir
Well, today was interesting enough. Around 3pm or so, about an hour before I left work for the day, some dude called me and wanted to speak to the base commander about possible “terrorists” around our base. Obviously this info wasn’t true, but to be polite I transferred him to someone who could set him straight. Well, sure enough, they hung up on him, and he called me back. This time my supervisor talked to him and the look on his face was priceless. We think he was drunk off his ass or something, but it goes to show how different people can be.
Wanna Pull my Pork?
I promise I’m not totally losing my mind…but I’ve had some really good food for supper lately. Go to Walmart and buy Hormel BBQ Pulled Pork….mmmm! Delicious!
