Trip – Day 4 of 5

Today I made it as far as Sioux Falls, SD. The drive was good but kinda boring at the same time. I checked into a Super 8 here, which, go figure, is across from a mall. I got to meet my friend Kindra for the first time, which is awesome. We’ve been online friends for over 3 years now. We wandered the mall for a few, then went and played some mini-golf, and then got some ice cream at DQ. We managed to trip over the same crack in the sidewalk at the same exact time…so that’s our inside joke now.

Tomorrow morning I leave for my last leg of the trip. I should make it to Minot around 4 or 5pm or so. I’ll let everyone know how it went! :)

Where Should I Begin…

I left Maine yesterday morning to start my trip to North Dakota. I drove for about 9 hours yesterday, then I stopped overnight in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Jillian ended up coming down to visit me at the hotel since Allentown is only about an hour and a half away from W-B. My alarm on my phone never went off this morning for some reason, so I got a late jump. I got on the road around 9:30am or so after fueling up and all that good stuff. The trip was going very well until I got into Ohio. For some reason, my truck shut off on I-76, about 90 miles from Columbus. I had to pull to the side of the interstate, and I couldn’t get my truck started again right off. I waited for about 15 minutes, and it started right up, and I left again…and it ran fine the rest of the way to my hotel. I was gonna stop overnight in Columbus, but I figured the rates would be cheaper at hotels outside of city limits, so I stopped about 40 miles short of Columbus. I’m at a Super 8 right now. With my military discount, it was only about $40 for the night. Tomorrow I’m driving another 480 miles west.

That’s it for now. I miss everyone already!

It Fall Down and go Boom

Yeah…I just found out tonight that a B-52 crashed in Guam while on deployment there, killing all of the Airmen onboard. There are only 2 bases that the B-52′s are assigned too – Minot and Barksdale. This one came from Barksdale.

I was able to make it out for a walk tonight. There was a short break in the rain showers…enough so I could go out. The heat lightning was neat to watch while I was out. I’m glad I made it back without being sprayed by a skunk though. I counted 4 of them that I walked by, and one in my yard eating birdseed.

Now I get to go take a shower. Tomorrow I have to go and get a haircut so I’m within regulation again when I arrive in Minot. Blah…lol.

Does anyone remember the show Chips?! I love that show and I’ve been watching it every night on DVD!

Ok, time to go shower…

The Dark Knight

Last night I went to see “The Dark Knight.” For someone who was never interested in comics as a kid or anything, I actually thought the movie was amazingly good. The theater was packed to the rim though…so my plan for going on a nice quiet Monday night was shot down in flames.

I went and found a Geocache yesterday afternoon. I might go back out today if I get some ambition.

I hate my electric razor. I had to buy a new one since I couldn’t take my other one on the plane with me to come back to Maine. This one bites big time. Random, I know.

Friends, Apples and Ice Cream!

Hey everyone! It’s been a pretty good weekend for the most part. I was able to hang out with some friends again and do some more catching up. Last night at the Blues Club, I ran into Ashley who I used to work with. She seemed like she was doing pretty good. And, I stayed up until about 3am this morning chatting with an old high school friend, Beth. It’s rare we actually get to talk to each other, so when we do it’s really nice. She owes me an apple…lol…inside joke!

Today, I rode out with my mother to a family friends’ house in Winslow…Pauline Smiley. If anyone has ever been to Smiley’s ice cream, they used to own the business. :) She was a good friend of my Aunt before she passed away while I was in Basic Training. I came home and had some beef stew for supper. I was hoping to go out and do a Geocache but it’s raining a bit too hard for that right now.

So, that’s the update. Goodnight!

New Songs at Some Point

While I was away at tech school in Mississippi, I had a lot of time to write some new material to release. I completed three new lyrics while I was there, but only one I really think could make it as successfully as some of the others I’ve put out online. I think tomorrow I’m gonna work on releasing that one, but I’ll post the other two at some point this weekend most likely. Just a random thought before bed…lol. Goodnight!

New GPS

I woke up at like 12:30pm today…lol. I love sleeping in. As much as I told myself I wouldn’t sleep in that late anymore, it’s not really working that good. But hell, I’m on leave so I might as well enjoy it!

I went out to Walmart and bought a new GPS unit. I want to get back into Geocaching…I haven’t done it since last Fall. I still have some things to learn about it I guess…it’s a bit more complicated than my old unit was. I went out to find a Geocache and almost got lost in the process…haha. If you want to know what the hell I’m talking about, go to www.geocaching.com. It’s basically a treasure hunt…yes, for real. Someone with a GPS goes out, literally anywhere, and hides something. It could be under water, under a bridge, in an open field, buried somewhere, in someone’s backyard, in a city, anywhere!. After they hide it, they record the coordinates on their GPS, and post it on the website. Users of the site browse for the geocache, go find it, and then sign the logbook that’s in each one. Of course, they have a GPS also in order to find it. It’s really pretty neat. They usually are stuffed with prizes, so the general rule is take one item out, and leave one item in the cache, and then hide it where you found it again. Then, another person comes along and does the same thing, etc…try it!

After I got back from Geocaching, I rented a movie and made some supper. Sometime soon I have to pack some more stuff to take to Minot with me. I’m excited to get out there…but not so excited for the drive itself. Just by researching the area, it seems almost identical to central Maine. We’ll see…!

Friday Night – Retro Party – BE THERE!
Saturday Night – Blues Club – BE THERE!

Bryan Adams/Foreigner Concert

I spent almost all of today/tonight in Augusta for the concert. I have to admit, it was even better than what I had expected. Bryan Adams was ok…I don’t think I’d pay to see him again though…but Foreigner was amazing! Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin) was their drummer and did an outstanding job. Their show was just simply amazing altogether. I have some pictures I’ll post ASAP.

That’s it for today. Bye!

Wow!

I just got home from my first Retro night in a few months! Damn! It was a blast! It was REALLY nice catching up with all of my old dancing friends. I got to see pretty much everyone tonight…including DJ Patti. Even all of the girls that I used to dance with were there, which made it even better…lol…although I still have no clue what most of their names are, haha! After I got back home I ate some chinese food and came up to my room to relax a bit. Tomorrow night we’re throwing a party at my house for everyone before we head out to the Blues Club at 9. It should be really fun…we’ll have tons of food.

That’s all I have to say right now…have a great night and I’ll post tomorrow!

I’m Home!

Well, after all of the delays, I’m finally back home for a few weeks. My flight was delayed a few times last night so I never even made it back home until 3am this morning. I slept until noon then went out and saw some people at the store. I also stopped and saw my recruiter which was really good. I went out and did some shopping this evening all over Waterville. But, I gotta go for now…I’ll keep you posted on my stay here!
