Jennifer

I decided a little while ago that during basic training, I’m going to keep a journal of my day to day activities and what goes on. I think it will be a neat thing for me to keep throughout my lifetime and will be something good to be able to hand down eventually. I want to be able to post about everything as soon as I have access to a computer again after basic training. I was reading the journal of another member of the Air Force and it inspired me to do the same.

Something I forgot to mention in my last post…while Jennifer and I were getting ready to leave the Sergeant’s office, he was telling us about how much he has enjoyed spending the time with us and how much he’ll miss us when we leave. He has high hopes that he’ll get to see me again down the road in Dover, because it looks like he’ll be able to go back there, and Dover is on my list. Anyway, as he was telling us these things, Jennifer noticed he was starting to tear up a little…and she asked “are you going to cry when we leave?” He wasted no time in saying “I just might.” I actually thought that was pretty neat. I can really tell that he thinks of us as real people and not just another number put through. He thinks of us as his kids, and we look up to him as a father in a lot of ways. I hope Jennifer and I can stay in contact after we go our separate ways in BT. She doesn’t know what her job will be yet, because nothing on her list was chosen for her. She had to choose an overall category, and she chose General and Medical…and our recruiter thinks she’ll get placed somewhere in Medical. That would be neat.

I’m finding that typing out a lot of things on my mind lately is helping me get through everything a bit easier.
