New York City Vacation

I wanted to update everyone about my plans for the next month or so. I’ve decided that my final day at Walmart will be March 7th. It’s been a long time coming for me to leave, and it’ll be hard to leave so many great people behind. But, to offset the bummed out feelings from that, I’m taking a trip to New York City. I’ll be staying at the Ramada Plaza New Yorker Hotel, in Eastern/Midtown Manhattan. Here are some pictures of it:

So anyway – my stay there will be from March 10th -13th. I’ll be taking a Greyhound bus round trip. The bus arrives at the Port Authority terminal around 4:00pm on the 10th, and my hotel is only a few minutes away by foot, so I won’t even need a cab to get to my hotel. The night I arrive, I plan on getting settled in to my room, then walking along the streets nearby my hotel for some sightseeing. This includes the Empire State building, which is only one block east of my hotel, and in full view of my room. There is a diner called the “Tick Tock Diner” that I want to try the first night I arrive. My first full day there, the 11th, I want to take a cab to the Financial District, AKA lower Manhattan. I plan on spending the entire day simply sightseeing and trying out new restaurants and picture taking, and taking a trot over to the World Trade Center site. I’m going to visit Wall Street, Soho and possibly the Chelsea district.

The next full day, the 12th, I want to take a foot tour of Central Park. I want to spend the day doing the same as the day before, just walking around at my own pace and taking in the sights. As boring as it sounds, it’s all I want to do. Whatever leftover time I have from that will be spent browsing the Times Square district and the famous shops, including Macy’s.

And on my last day in NYC, my morning will be spent getting ready to leave for the most part, but I hope to find a nice restaurant for breakfast before leaving for the bus terminal. I’ll return around 8pm the night of the 13th, which is on a Thursday.

And of course, I leave for basic training on the 25th of March, and I admit, I’m getting anxious. But that’s my update…enjoy!
